Copper Oxide

Copper Oxide is also known as Cupric Oxide and has a chemical formulation of (CuO). It is also known as Tenorite in mineral form. It has the appearance of a black or brown/black odourless solid and is widely used in the ceramic industry as a pigment, mainly to produce the colours blue, green and red.

Copper Oxide presents a number of hazards to the user as it can damage the central nervous system and has an adverse on the endocrine system which is responsible for the secretion of various hormones which are essential for well-being. Copper Oxide is classified as an Irritant to skin and eyes where it can cause irritation and redness. Accidental contact with the eyes can lead to conjunctivitis and permanent damage to the cornea.
